XRAY of Kaitie's Right Knee<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kaitie was injured in the first half of her game against Tilton School<\/a> on Wednesday 1\/19\/2011. A rebound went hard off the rim and was rebounded by Emily Kelly. Emily threw an outlet and Kaitie headed up court. The outlet pass was intercepted by a Tilton player. Kaitie reversed direction hard to get back. Too Hard. As she says,”It just gave out.” She went down holding her knee. The trainer and coaches helped her off the court.<\/p>\n

The X-Ray to the left was taken the next day at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center<\/a>. \u00a0After the X-Rays were done we met with Dr. Charles Carr’s<\/a> staff. \u00a0An examine indicated a likely torn cartilage and a possible torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament<\/a> (ACL). \u00a0An MRI<\/a> was ordered for an hour later. \u00a0It takes a while to get the MRI read so we found out the next day. \u00a0It was both a torn ACL and torn meniscus. \u00a0Kaitie’s 2011 basketball season was over.<\/p>\n

We were at home and Kaitie was at school. The hard part now was to tell her. We didn’t want to do it by text, Kaitie’s preferred method of communication. If we had just shown up on campus, Kaitie would have known immediately. Kaitie’s basketball coach, Eileen Williams<\/a> was kind enough to let Kaitie know and we met Kaitie on Campus later. We spent the weekend at the Fairfield Inn & Suites<\/a> in White River Jct. so we could work on the swelling with ice and elevation<\/a> but still be close enough for Kaitie to attend class and an away game @ Holderness School<\/a>. So now we head back to Dr. Carr’s office on Monday morning to review the MRI and discuss our options.<\/p>\n

Surgery would need to be done if Kaitie want’s to play competitive sports again. When we asked what she wanted to do…She immediately said, “Let’s get it fixed.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
